We can no longer ignore the consequences of pretending that illegal guns do not exist and are wreaking havoc in our homes and communities. I am outraged about the seeming unwillingness of some to stop the flow of illegal guns in our communities. I do not believe that solely restricting the sale of illegal guns will solve our crime problem. I believe we need a comprehensive response to violence that addresses the roots of the problems that lead people to turn to violence. Still, restricting the flow of illegal firearms in our community makes good common sense. If we don't fight senseless violence on every front, we are not serious about saving lives. Our communities are being caught in the crossfire and it will take the resolve of all of us to help be a part of the solution.
