Everett Gillison, Esq.
Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, City of Philadelphia

Common sense gun laws should be enacted for our society to be able to stem the tide of violence from guns. There is a lot of talk about "just enforcing the laws on the books," but being able to have reporting requirements could go a long way to shortening the time a gun is out in the open.

We know that most gun violence is committed by people who cannot lawfully purchase or possess guns. These criminals rely on straw purchasers to buy the guns from licensed gun dealers and then sell them on the street. Without the ability to trace guns back to the original point of sale, we are not able to slow down the flow of guns into our City and neighboring ones.
